Rangers fans demand an end to ’45-minute’ performances

One Ibrox Noise reader recently made a comment, and as harsh as it sounded, it’s not far wrong;

‘Most of the Rangers squad don’t even want to be here’.

And when we look at the striking level of heartlessness, gutlessness on display from the majority of the team this season, it’s not hard to assume many of these players are mercenaries without any real interest in being at Ibrox, and ‘hoping’ for a better move.

There are obvious candidates who simply aren’t fully committed:

Glen Kamara, Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Connor Goldson and Malik Tillman are among those who would rather be in the Premier League or a bigger league, and that lack of heart is a major reason we’re only a 45 minute team.

Now some of you are arguing Goldson is committed – well, we don’t see a lot of that – we see someone who didn’t get the offers he wanted from England, and signed his deal 20 months after it was offered to him. He’s plumped for us, quite different to us being first choice.

But the rest of those? They want something ‘better’.

And that shows in so many matches – we’ve praised Ryan Kent more than most sites, but we can’t help feeling that he doesn’t seem that focused any more. Doesn’t seem that interested, lacking passion. Indeed, as Ibrox Noise demonstrated, his stats, if anything, are fractionally down under Michael Beale from what they were under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and the last two matches from him have not been overly impressive.

But the ones like Morelos, Kamara and Tillman are blatant.

But it’s not all bad – there are many players who would give anything to be here, to stay here:

Arfield, Lundstram, Jack, Colak, Raskin, Wright and Cantwell are among the lads who would 100% remain if they have the choice. They’re committed and they love life here.

But there’s also a group we’re less sure of. Tavernier might want to stay but he’s absolutely terrible these days, while Ben Davies isn’t overly convincing, and Barisic’s position has always been a bit ambiguous. Fashion Sakala is just self-centred and we’re not that fussed if he remains.

But the overall point? Two many regulars aren’t committed, and we see 45-minute halves because frankly they don’t have it in them to keep going for 90.

Fans are very frustrated by this, but end of the day, what can you do with players whose hearts aren’t in it?
