Ryan Kent’s value has risen, perhaps surprisingly, to around €17M according to well-respected Dutch data site transfermarkt after the addition of new Rangers manager Michael Beale was confirmed and the first press conference completed.

Widely-regarded as a potential fillip to Kent’s Rangers fortunes, the new manager, who spoke glowingly of Kent on his first press conference and described how he’s known the winger since he was just 14, suggested the attacker’s value might not be at the level it was half a year ago.

But data suggests different, with a surprising €17M, in a rise from €13M earlier this year, which equates to about £12M rising to £15M give or take, which is welcome indeed.

The biggest factor in his rise in value, it would seem, is the signing of Beale, who is basically the single biggest influence in Kent’s career and it was under the former QPR manager Kent’s best form has been seen.

The attacker is not the most vaunted of Rangers players these days among fans, with the flanker being heavily criticised for both not signing a new deal and not being at his best form – many supporters ‘couldn’t drive him to the airport quick enough’.

But with Beale’s arrival in Govan, all bets are off, and it appears to have influenced Kent’s market value, despite his deal running out in the summer. Is Kent back to being a £15M-£20M winger? Well the hard reset on all things Rangers with Beale coming in is a very valid thing indeed.

We know how good Kent is capable of being, and Leeds’ rejected £8M bid 18 months ago has influenced his value as well, because Rangers rejected that when in a weaker financial position than we currently are, the accounts showing the club is in a much better place than it was.

Add Beale into the Rangers mix and there’s quite a few factors explaining why Kent in particular has seen his value rise again.

But as Beale says, he’s one he’d love to keep, and time will tell if Rangers do hold onto Kent after all. Watch this space, as they say.
