Some Rangers fans are far from happy with new favourite for Ibrox job

After a furious day of speculation following the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Michael Beale has slipped in the favour of bookies from odds-on Ibrox new manager to second top favourite as former Burnley manager Sean Dyche, long-linked to Rangers since his exit from the relegated Clarets, now managed by Belgium legend Vincent Kompany.

Reaction to Dyche is mixed, with some believing his no-nonsense approach is what Rangers need, while others are sceptical at best and think he’s far too one dimensional as well as simply not good enough, having got Burnley relegated.

But the betting says a different story, and the man is now leading the charge, albeit he is far from odds-on with current numbers having him 6/1, while Beale was 4/7 for a brief moment.

Dyche is well-known to be open to the idea of managing Rangers, some clickbait sites trying to make a claim that he’s ‘very keen’ to the idea when it’s been public knowledge for several days/weeks – Dyche explained on radio his preferred choice is the PL again but he’s not only open to setting his sights further afield but is keen to come north and take in an Old Firm match.

So, the Englishman has already stated he’s open to the idea, far from rejecting it, and his place at the top of the odds are no surprise at all, given he’s out of work and wouldn’t cost any compensation fee which is naturally Rangers’ board’s favourite price.

The same applies to Ralph Hasenhuttl, who is also very much in the reckoning, but at the moment Dyche now leads with Michael Beale second.

Fans have strongly been quoting former Rangers striker Duncan Ferguson’s merits, but this seems like a pure heart ruling head opinion, given he’s well-known for being strong minded and would ‘sort that dressing room out’.

But he has absolutely no experience as manager, bar some caretaker spells at Everton in which he won one match of a possible five.

It’s Dyche the bookies’ favourite as betting hots up. But expect change as other names begin to emerge.
