Striker won’t be coming to Rangers as he chooses Italy

Erik Botheim

Erik Botheim will definitely not be signing for Rangers and has instead opted for Serie A strugglers Salernitana who only escaped relegation on the last day of the season.

The Norway international had a host of interest from all over Europe, and after international future team mate (Botheim never actually played for Norway) Erling Haaland dropped a cryptic Instagram hint, it looked like the former Krasnodar forward (he never actually played for Krasnodar) was going to make a big splash in Glasgow with Rangers.

Ibrox Noise confirmed a short while ago however this trail had gone very cold and was as good as dead, and it has been confirmed any slim chance Rangers had of securing the rather coveted hitman’s services have been doused completely and he will move to Italy for a relegation battle with Rino Gattuso’s old side.

With no word yet on any progress over PAOK’s Antonio Colak, and threats from Auxerre about Zambian Fashion Sakala, Rangers’ strike options could certainly be better right now, but unfortunately Botheim was out of our budget.

We’ll be curious how he does in Italy compared with his illustrious countryman’s own fables in England.

But yes, we move on from this one.
