Rangers get it right as summer activity ramps up

Rangers’ summer business absolutely sky rocketed over the past 7 days.

First Antonio Colak was confirmed, then Tom Lawrence, and now Wales’ Rabbi Matondo looks close.

We are hearing rumours of Fulgini as well, but we’re less sure about that one – we’ll see.

But what we’re detecting is Rangers aren’t doing anything Hollywood in this window – we’re not bringing in obvious massive improvements to the squad.

What we’re doing is signing additions.

John Souttar isn’t a major upgrade, neither is Colak, and we can’t claim Lawrence is either, or, truth be told, Matondo.

Now, we might be wrong, all four of these might be a hell of a lot better than what we have – that is a matter for Gio and the team to know.

But at base minimum, they’re certainly not downgrades, and that’s a major change.

We’re used, in the past, to signing players who were either broken, or slightly inferior to what we had.

Look at the windows in recent times – Scott Wright wasn’t exactly major competition to Kenty, and no one even knew who James Sands was.

But this window the additions, for the first time in a while, are definitely at least as good as what we have, and strengthen the squad.

Are we making blockbuster signings? No, not really – but all we ever wanted at Ibrox Noise was fresh talent, new blood, new bodies, more competition – at least on a par with what we had.

And with these additions we’re freshening up that up nicely thank you.
