Reports today claim Steven Gerrard’s Villa and Nottingham Forest have pulled out of any interest in Joe Aribo amid long term reported links from Birmingham and more recently Nottingham to the Rangers playmaker.

Claims from that part of the world suggest Gerrard isn’t interested in Aribo, which would fly in the face of his poaching all of our best players, along with Forest cooling their interest too.

But while this is technically good news for Rangers fans, it doesn’t stop the links for the Nigerian because it’s well known he’d prefer a move to London anyway, and the links with Crystal Palace, Fulham and Brentford are very much still alive, with West Ham said to be sniffing around as well.

Aribo is in the final year of his deal and reports claim he has a £10M release clause in his contract for the final year, which is something the club installed a spell into his time at the club, so any suitor will have to fork out that much to secure him.

But that suitor is unlikely now to be Gerrard or Forest.
