It has been confirmed veteran trio Allan McGregor, Steven Davis and Leon Balogun will all this week find out their futures when talks with their representatives and the clubs begin over the paths forward for the three.

Connor Goldson, also out of contract, will not be speaking to the club and seeks options down south.

But for the other three, it’s up in the air at present.

McGregor has confirmed retirement is not yet decided, and he wants to talk to his family first to see how they all feel – it’s clear the goalie doesn’t quite feel the end is inevitable, and there’s a small chance he could defy the years and sign another deal. As Gio said, that one is down to the stopper alone.

Balogun has confirmed he wants to stay, and if the club do open talks with him, it is very likely the big Nigerian will put pen to paper on another year in Govan. If we can keep him fit, this is a deal we’re happy with, but we’ve never been able to so it’s a risk.

And Davo also wants to stay, but Rangers are hardly struggling for options in midfield, so that one is definitely a curiosity. He also missed much of the season through injury and is no longer a first pick.

Sentimentally, we’d like to keep all three of these champions, they all love the club and they give their all. But we have to be realistic too, and keeping all three might not be practical.

We’ll just have to see how the talks go…
