Celtic troll attacks Rangers again, but is he right?

While it is true that even a stopped clock is right twice a day, Charlie Nicholas randomly appeared in our Rangers newsfeed.

The headline was scathing, accusing Rangers’ board of arrogance. Not Rangers as a club, but the board, and for the first time in a long time, perhaps ever, we couldn’t help but slightly agree with what Nicholas was saying.

Let’s not forget this guy is a balloon, a wee raging tim who doesn’t have a good word to say about Rangers and has even slaughtered Celtic occasionally as well, but it doesn’t make him completely wrong on this occasion.

Rangers fans themselves have attacked the board a lot this season, much of it with good reason, and we will be blunt to say the board have made a pig’s ear of running the club literally since lifting the title in March 21.

Every single decision bar a rare few have been laced with foolishness and arrogance, and it’s been one cock-up after another.

Regulars may recall what Ibrox Noise preached endlessly in early 2021 – please Rangers, don’t ‘do a Liverpool’. Don’t win a title we’ve craved for years then drop the ball in arrogance and completely rest on your laurels. Which is exactly what Anfield’s finest did. The season after their first championship in around 30 years they fell away badly and much of it was through bad decisions, arrogance and complacency.

Rangers? Ended up doing the same thing, near enough.

We just didn’t handle it well at all, with a litany of poor judgement calls and bad signings, and while we are loathe to give any credibility to what an eejit like Nicholas says, this is one occasion where what he says has a modicum of fact.

If we do win this league by a miracle, it’ll be in spite of the board, not as a result of it

Charlie himself is sounding very smug, and we’d love to ram his comments down his throat, but equally as things stand they sound depressingly more accurate than someone like him should.

We might be an easy target for haters like him, but we gave him the ammo.
