Stewart Robertson’s admission Old Firm away crowds will return for the rest of the season is a concession on his part that it was a mistake to bar Celtic fans from Ibrox in the first place.
Let’s be clear, we can’t stand the buggers any more than you can, but Old Firm matches without opposition fans lose a huge amount of bite, and just aren’t the same without the rivalry.
There’s zero doubt in our minds that the complete lack of our fans at Parkhead contributed in part to such an abysmal display from our travelling side, given there was absolutely no support in the stadium for the side in a match which could have used some.
Just like Celtic fans, horrible lot though they are, couldn’t back their side at our patch earlier in the season, and both occasions felt off.
Robertson was the main man to announce these measures earlier in the season, with Dave King being the one a few years ago to ban Celtic fans based on wanting to prioritise Rangers fans.
And yes, of course Rangers fans are our priority, but surely not to the expense of retribution and the clear reality Celtic would do the same back.
It just didn’t work.
We’re glad we’ll have our fans at the next one, and while we hardly want the unwashed in Govan, their presence gives the occasion the spark it’s maybe lacked the last two.
Old Firm requires opposition of support, take that away and it’s just a bit off.

Ok they’re back but can we now find a place stuck in a corner somewhere out of sight of the TV cameras, just as they do with us.
Robrob57 is spot on, personally I would tell the disrespectful no room at the Inn. Stick them in a corner of the way if we do have them and limit it to 500, and put the tickets prices up too. No Surrender WATP…onwards 56….
