Steven Gerrard Villa crisis may see emergency bid for Rangers’ Kent

A development in Birmingham has seen the return of Ryan Kent to Villa after winger Leon Bailey was ruled out for at least a month.

The Jamaican star, signed from Leverkusen for £25M this summer, has been a big performer at Villa Park, and his untimely injury means manager Steven Gerrard may well seek to replace or cover that injury, and Kent, who was left out of yesterday’s win over Dundee on ‘tactical’ and ‘load’ grounds, is being touted as what SG seeks.

Kent spoke in glowing terms recently about his ex-manager, and hasn’t looked entirely settled this season with his personal situation not currently ideal, and if an offer did come in from Villa Park, it’s hard to see Rangers knocking it back if it’s ample enough.

We don’t know yet if this is the media adding 2+2 and getting 5 or if there really is something to this, but if Gerrard does make a move for any Rangers player, Kent would be high on his list for sure.

Villa’s abundance of left wingers is/was well-documented, but in fact they now have none – Trezeguet is out long term injured, and Bailey was the only other senior option.

SG is currently using Buendia on the left because there’s no one else.

Kent may well be getting an offer from down south. We’ll see.
