Rangers face Hearts today in easily the most important match since Hibs.

(bdum toosh).

Being serious, this one is actually bigger than the clash v Jack Ross’s side because Hearts continue to be the only side in the league unbeaten and their form is… well… remarkable.

They have an excellent manager, superb coaching staff, Scotland’s top scorer and they’re bang in form. The perfect time to face them, put them in their place and fully kick start our season’s form.

In terms of the side we’ll pick, it’s not an easy one to choose, but we’ll give it a go and see if you agree.

McGregor will take his place in goal, we imagine Greegs will get all the big matches this season and McLaughlin and McCrorie will get the rest. Lots of rotation there.

In defence, well, what a mess. Tavernier is likely to be restored at RB, while LB could be the return of Bassey. In the centre? Assuming fitness it has to be Goldson and Balogun. But the latter is a doubt.

In midfield? Lundstram has to continue in the middle, with Joe Aribo and possibly Juninho Bacuna in there to give the engine room legs. Steven Davis has to be managed carefully now while Scott Arfield is a serious option again.

Up front still misses Ryan Kent, and with all due respect we really hope Scott Wright is on the bench for this one. Fashion Sakala is fresh from his brilliant goal midweek and will be in contention, and Kemar Roofe is in the mix (albeit doubts over him fitness-wise and logistically). Ianis Hagi also has confidence from his own amazing strike v Germany.

And then there’s fresh as a daisy Morelos who has been resting for a fortnight but isn’t in sparkling form.

So today’s XI?

McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Balogun, Bassey; Lundstram, Bacuna, Aribo; Hagi, Sakala, Roofe.

Honestly? Your guess folks is as good as ours – the XI is gloriously unpredictable today. That’s why we love football.
