Connor Goldson has confirmed the media lies about his signing a new contract by revealing talks are ongoing and nothing has been agreed yet.
A national red top announced around a week ago that Goldson had signed a 3-year deal with the club to take him to 2024, but the stalwart defender could only say he was as surprised as anyone to see that story and he had no idea where it had come from.
In fairly, said red top has a lot of history for making things up, especially now that Rangers rarely leak anything out and ITK’s are on the significant wean, so it’s clear even a tabloid gets stuff wrong now and then, or just outright fabricates things. What a shock, right?!
Goldson’s representatives are working with the club to get the right solution and we reckon over the next couple of weeks there may be a positive story to report, but for now Goldson is concentrating on the football and his people and the club are concentrating on securing him longer term.
It’s just seeing sources like that spin stories, which even club officials are suckered in by – true, Clive Tyldesley isn’t (yet) one of us but even he namedropped the story and gave it a spot of credibility, which was evidently a bit of a naïve error, in hindsight.
And we aren’t an official Rangers source so when we bring you the stories, we’re just bringing you what we hear – some things we’ll get right, like the Ryan Jack stuff, sadly, and others wrong, like the Hagi story.
End of the day Goldson will sign if he gets offered a good deal, and that clearly isn’t on the table yet.
All in good time?
