Alfredo Morelos’ potential transfer to Porto is being held up by a number of factors, with some misdirection over the reasons.
Rangers’ star striker has reportedly agreed terms with the Dragao side, and all that remains is to sort the fee out with Rangers, but Morelos’ ex-side, HJK, were smart enough to include a sell-on clause in the original sale to Rangers, meaning Rangers have to sell for a bit more to secure what the club believes is market value for the player.
Prices seem to be ranging from £11M to £20M, depending on who you read, but it’s that 10% sell-on clause that would turn £20M into £18M etc which could hold the deal up.
There’s also the issue of Porto’s sale of Otavio to Liverpool for around £35M which would free up extra funds to help finance the deal for the Colombian, but that one’s on a timer with claims Liverpool have just 7 days to pay up or shut up.
Rangers nor Morelos have come out and debunked this story, so it’s starting to gather the same momentum as his deal to Lille did, and the sooner the man is sold at the right price the better, frankly.
Rangers need to move on from Alfredo Morelos.
Agree he needs to go but we need a replacement.. McBurnie ??
Please no. ONE goal last season. Just SIX the season before. We’d need to be mad to fork out £10 for that strike rate.
Canny see Porto paying extra to gers so they can pay 10% back to HJK best bet is to get a good sell-on clause involved in the transfer and still look for £17 million🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I think we need to move on from Alfredo Morelos but I’ll be raging if we only get the reported £10-12m. How is it they think they can get £35m for one of their players then short change us for a 1 goal in 2 games striker?
