The authorities have found a clever way of getting around Rangers’ problem of who to give POTY awards to – by splitting them between each other.
The SPFL gave Allan McGregor the gong, a well-deserved honour for a keeper who’s been world class this season.
But what about Steven Davis, who’s effectively had a flawless season and was many fans’ pick?
Well the SFWA evened things up by bestowing their version of the honour upon the record-holding British cap leader, meaning it’s one for him and one for Greegsy.
And honestly we couldn’t agree more with that.
These two, marginally, have been the best players in the shirt this campaign, and given that includes the immaculate Connor Goldson and the on-fire James Tavernier not to mention the relentlessly dangerous Ryan Kent that’s some going.
And seeing both get their own well-earned gongs for the same thing is really the right outcome.
There’s still the SPFA award to be announced as well, and frankly we’d be good with a third Rangers player getting it, whoever he is – the ‘top two’ in McGregor and Davis, have been rightly rewarded for their seasons.
Be nice seeing others getting an honour as well.
