January’s rumour mill has started and our old friends Leeds are back yet again, seemingly taking the place of Aston Villa, Palace and West Ham as the cliched team our best assets always get linked to.
This time it’s Glen Kamara – true, he will definitely be targeted and sources claim he’s been watched by a number of teams over the past few weeks and months.
This includes but is not limited to Leeds, Everton, Southampton, Brighton and Marseille to name just five.
Rangers are adamant they are not selling Kamara, and Steven Gerrard has gone on record as saying he’s not for sale, which is language he only uses for a select few of his players.
But of course big money talks and we shall see.
Of course, the media needs something to talk about, and now that the Morelos stuff and Kent stuff has gone quiet for now, the man of the moment is definitely the Fin (Roofe’s stunner notwithstanding) and he’s making for easy attention and traffic.
But, we also have to be realistic. Kamara is an exceptional talent who has hit absolute form this season, axing out the old weaknesses from his game by around 90% and enhancing his strengths – he will definitely be a target for big PL and European teams, and Rangers must be wary of that interest.
But for them to be successful the digging in the pockets must be deep and a player of the quality of Kamara with his growing CV and reputation will certainly smash the Scottish record and cost a suitor well above £30M now.
But frankly we’d rather he stayed.
