Four slain at Ibrox as Rangers smash United

We will focus on the excellent result and performance of Rangers’ comfortable demolition of Dundee United in due course, but we have to focus on the now ridiculous injury list.

Prior to this one it was Joe Aribo, Allan McGregor and Niko Katic definitely unavailable. There were doubts about Cedric Itten and Jermain Defoe.

Now, after a manic afternoon of a combination of despicable tackles and worrying injuries, Ibrox Noise takes you through a list of the litany of chaos out there.

Leon Balogun:

Starting to get concerning now, Balogun pulled up during the warm up, and following his injury-littered spell with Wigan, it’s beginning to look like despite how excellent a player he is, he’s going to be a real problem keeping fit. This one is frustrating.

Ryan Jack:

Went down with no one near him, which is always deeply concerning, Jack has had injury concerns for a long time now and it looks like his calf has gone again. Had to come off and be replaced but we got the double pivot we ‘jokingly’ predicted a day or two ago in Steven Davis and Glen Kamara. Jack’s prognosis will be determined in due course.

Brandon Barker:

From memory, he pulled his hamstring – was actually having a good match in truth, a lot better than the tricky Hamilton outing, and he’d looked hungry and energetic with some good crosses. But the hammie went and so did he.

Alfredo Morelos:

Barker’s replacement Morelos looked ok, but clearly a distance off match sharpness. He’s been out of the picture for a while and it showed, but he did work fairly hard. Then Ryan Edwards tried to end his career in a truly horrible, sickening assault which left a gash in the Colombian’s leg and his being stretchered off. It was a vile moment but typical of some of the attacks our players have taken over the years.

So, now we have definitely got issues with:

McGregor, Balogun, Katic, Jack, Aribo, Morelos and Barker.

Itten and Defoe are unknown quantities at this point, albeit Itten was on the bench and partially stripped.

It’s a dreadful state of affairs, and despite it all, Rangers won easily.

What a bizarre afternoon.
