This insane stat will have Rangers fans tearing their hair out

As fans know, Rangers are in some glorious form right now, but what many may not realise is just significant this is.

Rangers, thanks to victory at Ibrox on Sunday, have just won four matches in the league in a row for the first time under Steven Gerrard.

Take stock of that. The first time this season that Stevie has managed four back-to-back wins. And they’ve not been against the likes of Hamilton and Dundee. Aberdeen, Motherwell and Hearts have all been put in their place in a run of form unprecedented under this management.

The worst part is just what significance this has. Since magically finding upon the change in system, while dispensing with the use of Alfredo Morelos, we have to wonder just where we’d have been this season without the Colombian and with the use of this formation from the start.

Of course, we didn’t have Steven Davis or Glen Kamara earlier this season, so it only applies from January onwards, AND Davis took a while to get his form on (more on that later), so there are caveats to the ‘what might have been’ side of things.

But nevertheless, imagine where Rangers would be with this system and this personnel from the start of the season.

This setup is beating everything this league has to offer – even if it was to fail to beat Celtic, it doesn’t matter – all those dropped points earlier in the season to top six teams just wouldn’t have happened and we’d be pushing for the title at this point.

Of course, it’s all ifs and maybes, and perhaps that’s not fair on anyone, but nevertheless we are seeing with our own eyes that this Rangers side may indeed be the right combination at long last.

It’s just a pity the season may have had to be wasted in order to get there.

  2. Still got doubts about Defoe. He will score goals but I still think there is something lacking. And our lack of a creative number 10 was still very evident against Aberdeen.

  3. You're doubting defoe? Hasnt the lad got 7 goals and set up quite a few more directly or indirectly with his movement in the box? Considering hes had a few starts and in and out the team, great bit of business!! Its funny how people differ in opinion because im not a fan of arfield at all, everyone seems to love him.
