“Walk to Ibrox in his underwear”, “Win the league” – Rangers fans are clear on their manager situation

It would safe to say Steve Clarke has made a pretty incredible start to life in the SPL. The 54-year old has suffered just three losses, including one on penalties, since joining Rugby Park last October, and without any question would be in the mix for the title had the appointment been made before the season started.

His impact on Kilmarnock has been one of the most astonishing SPL stories of recent times, and that performance has certainly not gone unnoticed.

Rangers’ manager Graeme Murty has been sailing on the goodwill of a very good start to his semi-permanent appointment, but the results of the past 10 days have dented his case immensely and a great number of fans are completely in favour of bringing the ex-West Brom boss in instead.

Some might consider it unfair on Murty, but with Killie rampaging up the table like it’s going out of fashion, Clarke’s credentials are being increasingly sought in Govan, and here’s what the fans have had to say about the idea of bringing the Killie man into Ibrox:

  1. Last two managers had Celtic leanings, at least to some degree, both have worked out poorly for Rangers.

Rangers will be linked with every managager who manages to beat them .

Expectation levels at the club exceed what is actually possible and next season could be tougher than this one as player return to parent clubs and the financial reality hits ome with the fans and the club

  2. Was waiting for this one.
As much as we were total pish on Saturday , I know it was a horror show of epic proportions.

    BUT????

Do U honestly want the Rangers to play the way Clarke's teams play?? Every man and his dog behind the ball, be physical spoil the game and hit on the break!? JUST YUK!!

Sorry but if that's the way were going forward I'd rather watch the development squad or under 17"s

    • I agree look at his record V Aberdeen they get out fought everytime cup game all men behind ball and lost out on the shoot out, same with hibs they get out fought,we had the big share of the game but some times you do get beat at home on another day we win or draw that is how football plays out.i like second for this season not a may be forth place and we can still win the cup they can not do that Murty IS OUR MANAGER FOR NOW AND IF WE DO NOT GET A manager on 2 to 4 million a season they he will do just fine, some new players to make us stronger is what we need.

    • Agree Robbie!
Would not take Clarke for folllowing reasons

      1. His Playing Style
      (u just mentioned)

      2. He's a Tim & An Arsehole

      3. Since He came north to Killie hes been crying like a little schoolgirl complaining
      How crap Scottish football is
      How Crap the Refs are
How the World of SF Is Unfair
How Everyone is picking on Killie

      …amongst other Reasons

Id be looking at other options who ate better or just as decent for our Beloved Rangers!
      RTID⚽💙

  3. I don’t believe this will be case. Financial stability is returning and we must unload a stack of players. I do believe we need new manager. Murtys record is actually dreadful. We have shown him goodwill. But we must move on. Too many home defeats.

  4. Comparing a no-expectation job at Kilmarnock to the Rangers managerial position is bordering on stupidity. There were also some idiots wanting him to be Scotland manager based on a few months of success under absolutely zero pressure at Kilmarnock. Baffling

  5. Granted there's far more pressure at Ibrox compared to Killie but clarke is still under pressure to make sure they never got relegated and I'm sure he had plenty of pressure on himself…if he couldn't do it at Kilmarnock where would his career went from there?? If he wants a big club then he had to show up well at Kilmarnock. Let's get him! And he can bring Jones and Mulumbu!

    • Mulumbu strolled it from start to finish, Jones was a constant threat. Jones a squad player but Mulumbu would be serious competition for our midfield. He's better than goss, Goss bounced off him several times as Mulumbu dominated the middle of the park.

  6. Yes they bet us, but it was horrible to watch, I’ve never seen Boyd so far in his own half, though the Sevilla game was just the same on Sunday..

    • Mate they bored us to death whilest the team was wounded!!
      Think back 12 months????
      All Is Good!

    • They totally out played us, looked far more dangerous than we did for the entire game! I'd love rangers to bore everyone else and pick up 3 points every week! All is NOT good! 7 defeats at Ibrox, is NOT good. It's an embarrassment!

    • Stevie.
We're better than 12 month ago and improving every window, were not good enough yet granted but going ok.
Next season will be better after major changes at the club

  7. If reason for letting Murty go is lack of experience ?
Then can someone tell me why Clarke is the right choice ?
Little experience as a no1 what he has he's not been successful , a run of wins does not constitute a resume for rangers manager .
If we are going to change it again we need a outstanding no brainer candidate.
We can't keep ripping it up and starting again and if we are going to appoint a septic man get the one with passion determination a cv full of success euro pedigree .
This not really a serious solution just trying to show that the clamour for Clarke is a panic reaction as he is not even best option among them

  8. Graeme Murty for me. He needs to offload after winning the Cup.
    Offloads include

    Rossitter
    Krancjar
    Jack
    Cardoso
    Alves
    Wallace
And anyone else either shite or on the sick more than on the park
    Parasites aren't all French.
    Stevie Clarke. Suck my chookies

    New contract for Bates
    Give MOH a chance

We are not too far away but still need a Captain out there

The only manager I'd remove GM for is Big Watty. That's not happening though.

Our problems are players aren't good enough.YET

Robbie Wilson. You talk more sense than whoever writes these pages Buddy
