Murty admits another key injury blow in squad

Rangers manager Graeme Murty has cast further doubt over the ongoing fitness saga of Lee Wallace by confirming the club captain has suffered yet another setback in his endeavours to return to the first team.

The 30 year old has undergone a nightmare of the past four months+ with a knee injury, and had to undergo further surgery at the turn of the year which cost him at least two months.

After he managed 90 minutes in a bounce match against Brentford B, it was starting to look like he might be on the right track but Murty has poured cold water over that and it seems to be back to the treatment table.

He said:

“He’s in and around it (the first team). He’s had a little bit of a setback, he’s had a little bit of a flare up, we’ll monitor him closely and we’ll make sure he gets a load appropriate to where he is.”

It does seem the longest-serving current player in the first team cannot catch a break with regards fitness, and one wonders, at his age, how well he can feasibly recover.

We wish him well.

  1. Perhaps playing for a team out of ibrox is what is giving him most pain, should talk to wee ally, perhaps he would hire Lee to "cut the grass".
