Rangers manager Graeme Murty has today poured cold water over an imminent return for promising young midfielder Ross McCrorie, confirming the holding anchor has had an injection on his foot and it is unknown exactly what the prognosis medium term will be.
Speaking at the pre-Hearts presser, Rangers’ manager emphasised how important this period in McCrorie’s career is, and how much Rangers have to manage and take care of his health.
He said:
“He’s had a meeting with a specialist when he’s had his injection in his foot. We’re waiting to see how that pans out; the injection is still working.”
He went on with the care side:
“What we don’t want to be is too early with Ross in his rehab. We don’t want to push him too soon because all we would do is irritate the injury. We have to take our time with him. And we have to also understand he’s a young developing athlete and we want to make sure we take care of his career in the long term also.”
In truth, Rangers have a complete embarrassment of depth in the central midfield berth so while it is disappointing to see a promising player of McCrorie’s stature sidelined through an injury, we are certainly covered regardless.
With Goss, Docherty, the returning Jack and Dorrans, plus even Holt and Halliday, Rangers are ok for options in the engine room.
Nevertheless the prognosis for McCrorie is hardly inspiring and we hope he can overcome his issues sooner rather than later.
Good as he is in holding midfield, he may prove to be just as good in central defence where he started out.
I would like to see him try both roles to see which suits him best. We have plenty of alternatives in each role, so no rush.
What is the problem with our medical staff first we had Dorrans he was getting treatment for weeks next thing he needs major surgery Ryan Jack was in the same situation and now we have McCrorie more or less in the same category The only one our medics did not get first go at was Alves he went back to Portugal for his initial treatment and now he is fit to play coincidence?

Yeah but would Rather Wait for Him to return rather than push him to get back early and aggravate the injury ✊
