It’s no surprise that Rangers striker Antonio Colak is a target for a top German side, after the German-born Croat was effectively told earlier this year that he was not going to be a major part of Michael Beale’s plans.
This wasn’t explicit, but all the signals the Croatia international was given hinted that Beale didn’t see him as a player he’ll prioritise, and the interest in new strikers such as Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers and of course Haji Wright has seen Colak down the pecking order and clear on his importance now at Ibrox.
Which has opened the door for sides back in his homeland, Werder Bremen being the main interested party going by German sources.
The £2M signing from Greece side Salonika might have been on fire earlier in the season, but his style isn’t said to appeal to Michael Beale, with the manager seeking a more ‘dynamic’ front man and looking into USA star Wright and Nigeria’s Dessers.
As such, Colak isn’t being seen as a major component of what Beale is building next season, as things stand anyway, and the prolific hitman may cut his losses at Rangers and switch to the Bundesliga if Die Werderaner take their interest to the next level and come in with a bid.
Colak will net Rangers quite a few pounds. The club wouldn’t be interested in any offer much below £10M for the striker, given his astonishing scoring record last season in all competitions bar the Champions League proper, and the fact that a quality side from the Bundesliga is interested and has money to spend.
They are definitely looking at him, and given his return last season, he’s capable of delivering at high levels.
Rangers, if selling, would be looking at between £5M-£10M for him.
More as we get it.
