Ibrox revelation means some Rangers players have disgraced the fans

Yesterday’s revelation that senior Rangers players appear to have rebelled against former manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst is potentially the biggest player mutiny and betrayal we’ve seen at Ibrox in a long, long time.

If it is true, not only did a group of the players quite simply smite the manager with pure disrespect and fail to heed to his demands, but they have absolutely disgraced themselves among the supporters by slurring the club with their own egos.

As many supporters will tell you, the manager isn’t paying you, the fans are – we are paying the wages of these players, and for them to down tools out of sheer disrespect for the manager frankly disrespects the fans infinitely more.

It’s the fans who pay the money, the fans who turn up every week, or pay their subscriptions online, or spend fortunes on a £75 hoody or a £50 training top – it is the supporters who deserve players giving it everything.

And this news, which appears to be true, shows us a host of Rangers players have disgraced themselves, the fans, the former manager and the club as a whole, and these players are no better than the board for their conduct.

We can’t name names, but we can say who we perceived to be the players lacking effort:

Borna backpass Barisic, Glen Kamara, Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, and perhaps one or two others definitely weren’t consistently performing for this team, and at least three of them appear to be intending to leave, but that doesn’t matter, does it.

While you are a Rangers player you do not p*** all over the fans by phoning it in and giving so little effort, even if you are not a huge disciple of the manager.

It is unacceptable that some players would behave in this way, and suggests a deep rot has set in among the players, making a great number of them every bit as complicit as the board in the shambles this season has been so far.

Absolutely disgraceful.
