A shock story from France has emerged with Ligue 1 side Auxerre wanting to take Fashion Sakala on loan, and having been reportedly rejected in their first attempt, may come back for seconds.

The newly-promoted side, once giants of the French top flight, wish to launch an assault on their chances of staying up, and see Sakala as a big target and a potential recruit for next season, but Rangers are not interested in sending him out on loan.

The reality here is Rangers are currently deeply threadbare up front, with neither Alfredo Morelos or Kemar Roofe fully fit, and Sakala being the club’s sole available striker, with his self not even being an out and out 9.

Ibrox Noise recently discussed his merits and his chances of making next season count for Rangers, but the French side, spearheaded by manager Jean-Marc Furlan are big admirers of the Zambian and are strongly wanting him.

Whether this loan attempt will turn into a major bid for Sakala’s services on a permanent basis we couldn’t tell you, but if there’s one position Rangers can’t afford to go any thinner on resources, it’s striker.

More as we get it.
