Rangers fans were tonight in shock following reports that Calvin Bassey is to be undersold well below his market value at a modest £19M, with no sell on.

Ajax, who it appears are in pole position to secure his signature, wish to carry out a medical with him very soon indeed, and it could be as soon as tomorrow, but that the Dutch giants are nailing a deal with the Nigerian for less than £20M paints a very poor picture of Ross Wilson regarding these negotiations.

It is understand Ajax, as a club, do not do sell on clauses as a matter of policy, and the addons themselves are what would take his fee to £19M, not beyond.

We really hope this current info is inaccurate, because presently it’s little short of an absolute disgrace that a Nigerian international and one of Europe’s most coveted commodities would be sold for effectively half his market value when teams like Man Utd, Arsenal, Brighton, West Ham, half of Serie A and a host of Bundesliga sides are after his signature.

Rangers do not have to sell this lad below his reasonable value, and yet it seems like we are if current information is correct.

This player is the club’s biggest asset, and from nowhere Ajax seem to have stolen him for a modest amount compared with his true numbers.

All we can do is pray this is wrong.
