Two PL giants join race for Bassey as price soars

The fee for Calvin Bassey’s increasingly inevitable sale just hiked considerably after Brighton and Ajax were followed by PL giants Arsenal and Man Utd on top of a host of clubs including Villa, West Ham, and Italian & German outfits in wanting the Nigerian.

Sources this evening claimed the PL pair, who both have significant aspirations this coming season, have joined the hunt, and could see the transfer fee for the ex-Leicester man close in on £35M with a massive bidding war ensuing.

Utd, of course, are under new management in Holland’s ten Hag while Arsenal are managed by former Gio team mate Mikel Arteta so both may steal an advantage with those connections to Rangers, but at the end of the day it’s looking like being a matter of time before Bassey is sold for a whopping transfer fee which could eclipse the Scottish record.

That is of course held by Celtic and the sale of Kieran Tierney, but Bassey is under such massive demand now that while some sources allege the club will accept £20M, it is ludicrous to suggest a player this coveted will not break the Scottish record.

Indeed, the number could be around double that margin.

£50M? Probably not, but something approaching £40M isn’t impossible such is the queue of sides starting to roll up for Bassey’s signature.

One thing is for sure – it would be a shock now if Rangers held onto him.
