Stuart McCall: "I'd never have got the SPL Rangers job"

Stuart McCall has professed his belief he would never have been offered the Rangers job if the Club had not been removed from the SPL.

Speaking candidly, McCall, who has lifted the spirits surrounding the Club following the morale-shuddering McCoist and McDowall era, believes if Rangers had not suffered their fall from grace, he would never have become manager.

Speaking about advice received from Rangers’ legend Walter Smith, McCall said:

“But in fairness, he understood I would never have got the opportunity to manage such a wonderful club like this.”

Regardless of how astonishingly well he has done, McCall is of the notion that the opportunity would never have arisen if Rangers had remained in the SPL.

He went on:

"Walter Smith rung me up on the day I took the job and asked if I knew what I'd let myself in for. Even though I knew it was a gamble and the pitfalls, just to be part of it has been great. Regardless of what happens at the end of the season, I have relished every minute of it and I'm thoroughly enjoying it, especially with the results being good."

Assuming Rangers do get promotion under his watch, McCall will hopefully be afforded the chance to continue his project in the SPL, and be given the privilege he believes alternative circumstances would never have allowed.

  2. Regardless of the Circumstance's there's absolutely NO! doubt Stuart McCall's the CORRECT Appointment & the man in possession. the complete turnaround of a team, rather, than a group, of, individual's who couldn't, or, wouldn't gel together, showing commitment, desire, & a will to win & "PROUD! TO! WEAR! THE! JERSEY!!" "THAT!! WILL!! DO!! FOR!! ME!!" W.A.T.P.
