Rangers' true best players revealed - in statistical form...

In some enlightening news, the Rangers Report have compiled an incredible dossier of statistical achievement throughout the whole of the SPL, accruing a great number of details about exactly which players are achieving what.

With this being a Rangers site, we are most interested in our players, of course, and the most important stat of the lot was the so-called ‘Offensive Statistical Contribution Rating’ which measures in a number just how important a player is to a team winning.

While no Rangers player tops the charts for the league overall, one comes close.

Are these six men the future of Rangers?

When Rangers’ new manager takes charge in due course, one of the first puzzles the man must solve is the merits of the current squad, and who is truly good enough to be considered a long term asset to the team.

While the new boss will likely get new life out of players we all gave up on, such situations are a lot less predictable, and as such, Ibrox Noise takes you through what we believe are the players we want to see our new boss build around.

He may well not, he may have his own ideas, and as we have alluded to, we will give him the space, support and time to compile that for himself.

Who Are Rangers' Star Players This Season?

There's no doubt that Glasgow Rangers will want to close the gap between themselves and their neighbours Celtic as soon as possible. Online sports betting sites in the UK all have Rangers well behind Celtic in the latest title odds. The 2017-18 season has seen current manager Pedro Caixinha reshape the team and squad. There have been several star performers this season and the squad has a few big name "stars" in it.

How Miller's absence may have led to this unexpected problem at Ibrox

Something which a number of Bears may have noticed of the past three matches is the sudden absence of any goals from previously on-fire Alfredo Morelos.

Sure, even the greatest strikers do have barren spells, that is a well documented occurrence in football, but the timing of Morelos’ is more than a touch of correlation with the similar absence of his team mate Kenny Miller.

Correlation, of course, is the study of relationships between variables – not necessarily the cause or reason, but certainly the existence of a cohesion between two aspects – one affects the other.

Who is the mystery man who will solve Pedro's dilemma?

With Kenny Miller restored to the squad, the upcoming question may not seem quite as valid or relevant as when it appeared to be when he was delegated to the youths.

The 37-year old striker was at the centre of all kinds of allegations, none of which with substantiation, ranging from him running some kind of military-style coup against Caixinha, to leading a mere uprising, all the way to ‘Pedro was a bit miffed he did not ask for permission to receive the armband’ (despite being vice captain).

Pedro does slight u-turn on previous claim

Pedro Caixinha has admitted that he deliberately avoids all forms of media as the content of it would ‘drive him crazy’.

Speaking with regards to the pressure he is under and the difficulty his team has in maintaining any sense of form, Rangers’ manager slightly reversed on his previous comment in which he asserted he did not care what was said on these platforms about him.

Now he has alluded to the fact he does care, but avoids it all to avoid affecting him and his work.

How Rangers could be in danger of losing out in the January window

As most fans will know now, on-fire Alfredo Morelos has attracted the vultures a mere six matches into his career at Ibrox.

Topping the SPL scoring charts on his own, the Colombian hitman has been an absolute revelation – scouted by Finland and ex-Rangers striker Jonatan Johansson, the 21-year old is making the SPL look like a cakewalk, scoring all range of goals.

His head against County was incredible, and his clinical grass-cutter against Thistle on Friday was on point too. Despite no goals, and one near miss, he also had a fine match last night. This ex-HJK goalgetter is becoming, quickly, Rangers’ prize asset and by some distance our best player.

Is Alfredo Morelos really worth millions now?

If there is one growing star of Scottish football right now, it is Alfredo Morelos.

Lauded by Ibrox Noise on his arrival, his initial few appearances were uninspiring. This was a 27-goal in 42 appearances striker who had excelled for barely one and a half seasons in Finland for HJK (Feb 2016 to summer past) and hopes were high for his prospects in Scotland, but those few early displays were rusty.

Comment: Rangers 4 - 1 Dundee

Before we analyse today’s win over Dundee, it must be remembered that just like v County, we faced a bottom-feeding side, in this case, with just a single point to their name all season.

Just like County there was a bit of toiling before we finally broke our opponent down, and just like County, there was a messy goal conceded to spoil things a touch.

Has Pedro addressed a gaping hole in Rangers' team?

 Article by: Ibrox Noise

Many find it hard to omit Super Ally’s managerial reign at Ibrox from memory – it was not the best time, and when assessing his status at Ibrox a lot of fans frequently point to that dire period in judgment.

Yours truly, however, prefers to look at his incredible playing career, and how much of a legend he was on the pitch for Rangers, with a goal scoring ability without compare.

Part One: Striking a balance - Rangers' options

Article by: Ibrox Noise

With nearly 10 signings in the bag, Rangers have effectively acquired a new team this summer. The likes of Dorrans, Pena and Alves have come through the metaphorical entrance at Ibrox while a handful plus have gone out in the other direction, but we still do not really know what shape the team will take next season.

In later episodes in this series we shall look at defence, defensive midfield and attacking midfield, but for now we will start at the front. You could argue we are going the wrong way around but we like to be a bit different here at Ibrox Noise!

XI for Progres: starts for four summer signings?

 Article by: Ibrox Noise

With only two days to go till Rangers’ first competitive action of the new season, speculation is reaching fever pitch over what the maiden XI of campaign 2017/2018 will be when the side faces Progres.

With eight signings incoming and increasing numbers of outgoing on a near daily basis, manager Pedro Caixinha is certainly spoiled for choice when it comes to Thursday’s line up. The question is what XI and formation will he choose?

Is Rangers' new signing the final nail in the coffin for misfiring misfit?

Article by: Ibrox Noise

When Rangers fans look at Alfredo Morelos’ CV, it makes for impressive reading, certainly at club level. While yet to net for his country (he has only made a handful of appearances) at youth level, at club level it is a different story.

At the tender age of 20, he has managed a well over one in two rate at a respectable level in the Finnish Veikkausliiga. La Liga it is not, but the EPL the Scottish Premiership is not either, and one could argue it was a fine level for a young striker to develop at, without the intense pressure a more marquee league would enforce.

Report: newly-signed trio registered in time for Euro clash

According to increasing speculation, the three previously unannounced Rangers, Carlos Pena, Eduardo Herrera and Alfredo Morelos have all secured European registration at Ibrox in time for the visit of Luxebourg’s Progres Niederkorn on the 29th of June for the first round of Rangers’ return to European competition for the first time in five years.

The deadline for registration was reportedly June 19, but with no announcement regarding any of the three incoming signings till this afternoon, fans assumed Rangers would be without their services for the opening of this season’s European adventure.
