With the return of Nigeria’s Leon Balogun, Rangers’ transfer window is now mostly complete, and Michael Beale is 80% happy with what he has, but the latest now is simple:

Rangers want midfielder Jose Cifuentes and defender Jonathan Panzo, but tonnes of red tape remain in the way of both, while an eye is also monitoring the Danilo situation.

And Rangers seek to ship out, as previously said, Glen Kamara, Jon McLaughlin, Scott Wright and potentially Antonio Colak, in order to fund those signings.

Rangers have spent £8M, confirming Ibrox Noise’s Ross’s budgetary estimate on what the club would be able to spend ‘out of its own pocket’ but for now, the signings have stalled because, frankly, that budget went on two players, Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers.

The only way now to add more players, such as £1.5M Jose Cifuentes, £3M Jonathan Panzo and £7M (yes, really) Danilo is to sell players.

Glen Kamara will leave for a number around, hopefully, Rangers’ asking price of £5M and that will help some of it, and Antonio Colak’s fee would be anywhere from the recently-reported miserly £2M and the more realistic upper £5M+. Last but not least Rangers hope to get £1M for Wright.

These are all guesses. We can’t know what will actually come in for any of these players, because the fee is down to what the buyer is willing to pay, always, but we do know no more premium transfers with fees attached can be made until funds are freed up through sales.

The Leon Balogun situation was a free and the Nigerian is on a very modest wage of a reported £5,000pw – he’s made his money in football and he’s just happy to be back where he loves.

So the money didn’t really matter there, and wasn’t an issue.

For Cifuentes, Panzo and Danilo, it really will.
