Michael Beale installed hot favourite to become new Rangers manager

Michael Beale has been installed early favourite to succeed Giovanni van Bronckhorst as Rangers manager, after the Dutchman was fired by the Ibrox board this morning.
The ex-assistant coach didn’t take long to spike high into the reckoning, and is odds on to become the next boss, after himself failing to completely rule the prospect out a month or so ago.
Other contenders include Kevin Muscat, Sean Dyche, Ralph Hussenhattl and ex-Leipzig boss Dominico Tedesco, who won Rangers fans’ hearts prior to our fixture last season with a warm tribute to Jimmy Bell.
But it’s Beale miles out in front at present with bookies borderline not even taking bets on him his lead in the reckoning is that strong.
Beale is surely destined to come back to Rangers at some point, after his successful time as assistant – it is well known he was the ‘real’ manager when Steven Gerrard was boss, and was key in every decision made under the former manager.
His start to life as boss on his own has been good, very good, albeit has started to wobble in recent matches with a poor run which has seen him taken down from the top of the table to just 7th, but this hasn’t stop the majority of supporters advocating him as manager.
There’s no question the guy knows what he’s doing, and in the Championship he’s learning a whole new discipline – but as far as SPL goes and Rangers do too, he’s completely up to speed on what it takes to be Rangers boss.
The appointment of Beale would be as seamless as Smith after Souness, albeit this time with an interruption of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
But of course, Beale elected to leave Ibrox at the time, wanted to stay loyal to Gerrard, which is understandable given the man gave him his big break in football management.
The right choice?
Beale would be a popular choice for sure, but it’s far from a foregone conclusion – he loves us, we love him, and we’ll see in time if the board can regain some favour with fans by appointing the hot favourite.
