Gio gives significant update on Alfie’s return for Rangers

GVB has all but confirmed Alfredo Morelos will miss the bulk of our crucial UCL qualifiers and the start of the domestic season by revealing the Colombian’s recovery has progressed to partial pitch work.

Now you might think this is good news, and it’s certainly not bad – the former HJK man is going forward in his rehabilitation and that’s never a negative.

But with his being as far behind on match fitness as he is, and only doing partial pitch work with just a fortnight till our trip to Belgium, he is unlikely to feature much before deep into August at our most optimistic projections.

The qualifiers are done, should we make the playoffs, by late August, and he and we can only cross our fingers that our talisman can have any significant role to play before September.

The lad is physically mostly recovered, but even then, it’s only fleeting pitch work he’s doing and not full on.

This means he really is a good month away from any convincing match fitness and that bodes unlikely involvement in the start of the SPL and the majority if not all of the UCL qualifiers.

Of course, Gio is a clever man, and he could be exaggerating Alfie’s status in order to protect him – the lad could shock us and return for West Ham!

But sadly we doubt that, and all we can hope is his rehabilitation is hiccup free and he’s back with us soon as possible.
