Euro giants sign no one – Rangers in good company

Rangers fans feeling a little panicky, perhaps ourselves at Ibrox Noise included, at the lack of signings so far in this transfer window, might want to look at two historic European giants (well, one of them anyway) formerly managed by Carlo Ancelotti – Everton and AC Milan.

How many signings have these two made so far in this entire window?

One, and it was made by Everton, and only just today.

AC Milan, buoyant off the back of winning Serie A for the first time since 2011, have signed absolutely no one bar making a loan deal permanent.

Instead the Rossoneri have lost a host of players, particularly Duarte, Hauge, Romagnoli, Ibrahimovic and the big one, Ivory Coast’s Franck Kessie.

Indeed, the Toffees themselves have just lost their biggest player as well, while Kenny went to Germany and Delph went elsewhere too.

What we are saying is Rangers are not the only side looking a little bit modest when it comes to a summer rebuild.

Milan have just won their league, and have a UCL campaign next season, but have done next to nothing in the transfer market – Liverpool’s Divock Origi could be the exception to that but it’s not over the line yet.

Everton have staved off relegation but done next to nothing to rebuild and prepare for a proper assault on the PL and be safer this season. Bar signing a Burnley player.

So we’re in decent company for clubs who appear to be doing very little.

Of course, fans of all these clubs want more, but we can’t all be Manchester City.

Patience?
