If ever we needed yet another testament to the astonishing achievements of Rangers in Europe in recent seasons, it’s the fact that in the Champions League qualifiers, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men are second top seed only to Champions League regulars Benfica, and are top of pot 4 of the group stage, assuming we get there.

Furthermore, if Benfica don’t qualify for the group stage, and Rangers do, Rangers will take Benfica’s place in pot 3 avoiding us some perilous sides at that level.

Even more amazingly, Rangers’ coefficient is enough to elevate the Light Blues above one of the pot ONE sides in AC Milan, whose coefficient is only 38, due to their dreadful fall from the top of European football in recent years.

Rangers’ is 50.250.

But it’s that seeding behind only Benfica, with their 61 (only a little more than Rangers) that shows how astonishingly far this side has come in Europe, to be second top seed in the whole Champions League qualifier, which is worth such praise.

Remarkable.
