Leon Balogun has confirmed he wants to stay at Ibrox, as he awaits a new deal. The big Nigerian, who has impressed at Ibrox despite his injuries, has revealed he doesn’t want to leave and is happy in Govan, and now waits on the club decision on offering him another year.

The former Bremen man has been, mainly through injury, on the fringes of the side pretty much since he joined.

Impressive at the back, strong in the air and quick on the ground, his presence has been welcome in the rearguard, and few will forget the immense stint he put in at RB to silence much-hyped Kyogo.

But those injuries have been a huge problem and it’s no wonder he’s hoping for a new deal – he’s well paid at Ibrox and while an honest and decent professional who gives his all, we can’t afford a sicknote.

The club will decide on him in due course, unless it already has, but his admission does suggest he’s not been told anything to one degree on another.

There are a lot of calls to be made over the next month, and Balogun is only one of them.
