Rangers have been given a little bonus going forward after Amad Diallo’s excellent Dundee United cameo revived his chances of remaining in Govan next season.
The on-loan Man Utd winger has struggled to impress at Ibrox, despite clearly showing the talent, and suffered a loss of form and confidence following Gio’s mistake of selecting him for Parkhead and the subsequent (disgraceful) abuse the young Ivorian took from most fans as a result.
But as with it all, time has changed things and his impressive appearance v Utd, following one or two glimpses in recent weeks of a slight upturn in form, has given a possibility to his being extended at Rangers for a full season.
Remember, Diallo, like Gio, came mid-season and had no time to settle before being thrust into the Parkhead cauldron – he’s not really had a good run in the side.
But the talent is evident, and Rangers still don’t, aside the former Atalanta man, have a decent option for right wing at all.
There’s no coincidence Utd paid a total of £40M potential for the attacker, and we’ve seen little bits and pieces of the quality that earned such a pricetag.
But his two goals have shown a combination of clinical finishing and positional reading and plenty sign he’s capable of so much more than his overall spell has demonstrated.
We’ll see this summer if he’ll be like a new signing.
