£50M is not lost for Rangers as CL looms

Ok we’re still all very raw from a poor 90 minutes, and the implications of them. But we at Ibrox Noise want to offer something a bit more hopeful, and maybe inspire you that all is not lost for the Famous and our fans.

Yes, the chances are that 56 is gone, and the chances aren’t exactly overwhelming that we can outright win the UEL, so we want to bear that in mind before conjuring our thoughts on plan B.

And that plan B is that the £50M is still on for Rangers, and here’s how:

Ok you’re reading wondering what they have to do with the price of mince at Asda, and we can assure you there’s meaning behind the apparent madness.

In short, Rangers’ route to the CL now seems to be qualifiers, a playoff round just like last time, but unlike last time this is a truly seasoned Rangers who can beat some of the world’s best sides in Europe.

Last time, off the back off a paltry UEL exit at the hands of Leverkusen, we capitulated totally to a very modest Malmo.

This time, we’ve shown we can beat almost anyone on their day in Europe, such as Dortmund, and Gio has definitely, tangibly and coherently upped Rangers’ level in Europe.

In short, we have a much stronger chance of getting to the group stage via qualifiers under Gio than we did under Gerrard.

We explained last year on Ibrox Noise that the CL qualifiers were already like UEL last 16. Last 16 in the UEL was the barrier we couldn’t get past under Gerrard. We were extremely wary of those qualifiers and didn’t feel any real confidence.

Under Gio, however, we dispatched Dortmund then Red Star. We’ve broken that ice completely.

So in the CL qualifiers, we have a far better chance of making the group.

Of course, this assums we don’t pull off miracles and win either 56 or UEL – neither are impossible.

But we do have a plan B, one that is quite negotiable.

All is not lost, and of course, by the summer, Gio will either have rebuilt his squad or will have Alfie back. Either way we’ll be ready.

So all is definitely not lost for us, there is still a route.
