Rangers fans have already launched two petitions to oppose the club’s future participation in the Sydney Super Cup, or ‘Stavros Celebration’ as it’s better known, with the announcement made today that Rangers would be taking part in the four-team friendly tournament Down Under.

The announcement is being regarded by many as tone deaf, with fans shocked that the club would sell out to our city rivals in this way, in a competition which gets into bed with a club which currently finds itself being imminently sued in a multi-million pound child sex scandal.

Let’s face it, we have no admiration for them over the city, and for the board to make this decision is probably the latest in a long line of club decisions, not just Rangers, but throughout football which completely ignore what fans want.

Zouma at West Ham, Goodwillie at Raith, then Goodwillie at Clyde – just 3 examples of common sense failing to prevail and money taking precedent.

Out of touch?

Probably a bit. Board members don’t listen to the fans in general, and it must be said Rangers haven’t exactly been run well since March 21, since 55, with a host of strange and naïve decisions being made which don’t harmonise well with fans.

We don’t know if they’ll listen to the outcry.

We’ll just have to see.
