Europa League – it’s time for Rangers fans to believe

Rangers Europa League

Let’s face it, having ruined the favourites and now put away Red Star with some serious ease, Rangers have to genuinely be considered, at this point, contenders for the Europa League title.

This isn’t like the run to Manchester where a side punched above its weight, defended brilliantly, and fought its way to the final.

This is a side that is in the last 16 and close to the quarters on genuine merit of footballing class.

Rangers have throttled Germany’s titanic Borussia as well as putting away, albeit only 50% at this point, Serbia’s champions Red Star.

If anyone doesn’t think this squad is capable of going all the way, they’re deluding themselves.

Sure, we may struggle next week, and the hostile Serbian crowd will not make it easy, but on a pure football level, Rangers are capable of winning the Europa League as things stand, if we assess the quality and results we’re getting in this competition.

This is a European-level team, a team in the last 16 and close to the last 8 on pure deserved merit.

Steven Gerrard then Giovanni van Bronckhorst have built a side capable of reaching the stars at this level.

Not, maybe, so much, UCL yet, because that really is a step up, but at UEL level?

Yes, let’s not kid on here – we can go all the way and we have as valid a shout as any of the others in this competition.

Will we do it?

Fate will decide, results will decide and we shall see.

But in there here and now, there is no reason Rangers cannot win the Europa League 2022.

Game on.
