Dave King has been back in the news and we have to say it’s the first time in a long time we’ve read what the attention seeker has to say with any hint of affinity.

Normally the ex-chairman storms into the news, chucks in grenades, and storms away again, wreaking havoc, but we must confess this time a lot of what he says ties in with our own stance, and we’ve been saying it for a while.

Ibrox Noise takes you through the little bits and pieces that we can digest for you:

Old Firm scandal. Yup, King rightly calling this one out – we weren’t in favour of it, and fans agree. No true Rangers man would sanction our participation in a tournament which is for Celtic, and their manager. It was a very very poor and out of touch decision which has inspired two petitions already.

Richard Gough, Mark Hateley, and Derek Johnstone – all of these good Rangers men have been ditched as ambassadors in the past few years. Regulars may be aware we’ve spoken to Richard many times, and he only ever wanted what was best for the club, and the board clearly ditched him due to his friendship with King. The others we can’t speak for but all have Rangers in their hearts.

Douglas Park cinch sham. We called that one out ages ago, the spat with cinch to suit Park’s own commercial interests, in that he refused to support the SPFL’s sponsor because he also has a car dealership. The club dressed it up in small print but it’s purely down to him not wanting to lose business. Seeing Gio in front of a blank wall for interviews was ludicrous. King is right to call that out too.

“Recent success has unfortunately created short memories and supporters have every right to be concerned.”

Ibrox Noise has been critical of the way the club has been run since March last year – some poor decisions made ever since we won 55, decisions which felt very much like a board exploiting a situation of success for their own ends.

Now, let us be clear – we are far from great friends with King or indeed another of his chums in Club 1872, but it doesn’t mean we can’t agree on anything.

And this is one time where we can’t really disagree with much of what he’s saying.

We’re not naïve. We know he can’t stand the board and he wants back on, probably with an agenda of his own, frankly, so we’re not stupid to think he’s all purely about the club and the fans himself either.

But we’re not exactly convinced right now about the board, and its fitness, and the Old Firm call sure didn’t help.

Strange times.
