GVB has, sadly, confirmed Nigerian international Leon Balogun’s injury will keep him out of tomorrow’s trip to Dortmund while hinting he’s only a 50/50 for the weekend.

The big stopper, so strong and impressive during his brief return, landed awkwardly against Hibs and was visibly upset as a result.

The scan on his leg confirmed better news than feared but still a setback enough to keep him out of Rangers action since, and it’s only a toss of a coin if he’ll be available at the weekend.

It’s a bit of a blow, again, because of course with no Filip Helander in the UEL squad list, Rangers are down to bare bones to travel to Germany, and it seems certain it’ll be a backline of Tavernier, Goldson, Bassey and Barisic.

This combo did well enough for Gio’s first couple of months, but it’s been a bit exposed recently and may not have quite enough solidity about it to face Marco Rose’s side.

But, you make do with what you have, and hopefully all four of them are at their best tomorrow night.
