If one thing has stood out over the last 24 hours, it’s a new culture of Rangers ‘fan’ that engages in misery porn and doomsday.

Hypocritical too, because all of those calling for Gio’s head after 2 months and saying he was the wrong appointment are the same ones who gave Steven Gerrard 2 years despite a horrible first 24 months as Rangers manager.

What changed in the psychology of our support that one of our own is lambasted after a run of 4 games with only one win, while an import Scouser who literally gives no hoots about Rangers got 24 months of slack from the same people despite how utterly rank rotten we were under him, aside Europe?

Steven Gerrard was given a tonne of leeway, and was defended resolutely by the vast majority, despite having no managerial CV, and such fans implored that he needed time and was learning on the job.

But Gio, winner of 5 trophies and having brought the Eredivise title to the De Kuip for the first time in 18 years having gone undefeated has been slated, cast out, and blamed by many fans who have compared him to Pedro and evidently want him gone.

We all know last night’s first 45 was honking – Gio got that wrong, and we back him to learn from it.

But some fans seem to have decided that’s that, and this ‘wrong appointment’ can go **** himself, while 3 years ago letting Gerrard away with blue murder and some absolutely abhorrent signings.

It seems hypocritical, unfair, and very unlike the Rangers Way yours truly knows of.

What on earth happened to Rangers fans?

Let us be clear – this isn’t all of the support, many are still backing the manager and giving him the respect he deserves.

But a huge chunk really have gone mental and want him out now.

And that absolutely crushes our souls.
