In the last entry we discussed the latest info on incoming and outgoing, and pointed out Nathan Patterson’s sale had somewhat changed things.

And it has, because until Everton bought our second-choice RB for £16M, the notion of our players being worth, or more to the point, being sold for their theoretical value was unproven.

Mainly because in this modern era, we’d not sold a single player for Dembele Dollars.

That’s changed, finally, as a quality Rangers player leaves for the value he’s worth, and it’s changed the landscape at Ibrox as we can finally consider or only dignify offers for our players which truly express their proper value.

Morelos is a £20M striker, properly, because Rangers won’t sell him for less.

Aribo is a £20M mid, because he’s critical to the team.

Kamara is at least £15M if not more, given his CV.

It’s no longer theory, it’s no longer us just conjecturing about market value based on sales elsewhere, it’s understanding our players are worth serious cash and this sale has made a public statement about what Rangers value our players at and what we are willing to entertain in terms of bids.

No one is getting Morelos for £5M, no one is getting Kent for £10M – if any rich clubs want our best players, Rangers have now proven with this £16M sale they’d have to spend big money on them.

And that’s a welcome change.
