GVB ‘resigned’ to losing top performer at Ibrox

Giovanni van Bronckhorst Rangers Hearts

He's not afraid to drop big names....

Ibrox Noise sources have confirmed manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst is keen on retaining Connor Goldson till the summer, but accepts the former Brighton stopper is 99% certain to leave as a free agent in June.

Goldson is known to want to be remembered for more than 55 at Ibrox, which means he’s keen to secure 56, but the lure of the CL isn’t said to be enough to encourage him to sign a new deal, with the big man preferring a return to the PL.

Sources reveal he’s not had the wealth of offers he was hoping for and no one is likely to bid on him this month, but he is of course free to talk to other clubs and secure a pre contract with someone keen on an experienced CB on a Bosman in the summer.

The press claim this morning Rangers are going to offer him improved terms on the last offer presented in Spring last year, but information is he’s sold on a return to England regardless and GVB is resigned to that.

Goldson has been a solid performer since the new boss came in, and while in recent matches his ball-hogging has crept back to SG levels, his performances have been impressive and he looks more focused.

It is unlikely, however, we’ll keep him beyond June.
