Rangers fans are today in amused disbelief after the BBC completely whitewashed Joe Aribo’s sensational display v Egypt, including winning assist, and instead focused only on Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho with the winning goal and how poor Liverpool’s Mo Salah was.

Of course, we shouldn’t be in any way surprised by the BBC doing this, but this was the national version and not just Pacific Quay, and of course you can be darn sure had that been a Celtic or England-based player with the assist, it would have been highlighted strongly.

But no, just the scorer instead.

Rangers and the BBC have, naturally, a poor relationship going back years to Chris McLaughlin’s dreadful coverage of us and Mark Daly’s lying documentaries, but their remit is fair, impartial and honest coverage. Indeed, it’s in their own guidelines.

And to completely airbrush Aribo’s moment from the match in which he played very well in a slightly deeper defensive midfield position was as predictable as it was disappointing.
