Celtic & Rangers at loggerheads over SPFL proposal

Celtic and Rangers are on direction collision course without a ball even needing to be kicked in anger after the former advocated the winter break being advanced alongside another 9 SPL teams, while Rangers and one other have not backed those plans.

Celtic are pressuring the SPFL into bring the break forward and potentially extending it, in a move which would suit them just perfectly following their complaints about fixture congestion and injuries.

Meanwhile Rangers will face St Mirren this weekend then Celtic at an empty Parkhead on the 2nd, as things stand, and the current situation it would have to be said plays into Rangers’ hands.

Which is why Celtic are desperate to try and violate sporting integrity to have the break advanced – gives them a higher chance of a full Parkhead and more of their players available, plus appeases their whining about congestion.

So Rangers definitely do not want this break advanced, or at least, certainly haven’t supported the motion, and it’s not out of pettiness because Celtic want it.

The reality is it serves no benefit to Rangers, and our fans too aren’t exactly endorsing the plans either. It’s Celtic driving this, and we’ll know by tomorrow if they got their way.

We aren’t trivialising health concerns, and we do support motions genuinely proposed in the best interests of keeping people safe.

But this doesn’t feel like that, and is rather a football political move which favours Celtic infinitely more than Rangers.
