The whitewash of Steven Gerrard

With every article we’ve penned about Steven Gerrard (pretty much since his exit) we’ve had the same mixed response:

One half agrees with our cutting remarks, our criticism of his exit and our credit to him for 55 and European performance.

The other half repeats, ad-nauseum, ‘give it a rest, he’s history ffs, move on’.

Someone explain how one of the biggest events and shocks in our modern history is whitewashed by some this easily?

Steven Gerrard is as big a deal now if not more than Souness in the 90s, and we can assure you Rangers fans still discuss his exit to this day.

But somehow there’s a big portion of fans who want to censor discussion on Gerrard, wanting only to focus on the next manager and almost pretend Gerrard didn’t happen.

In fact, they get genuinely angry if we dare discuss him.

Sorry guys, what happened was a huge deal and a major chunk of the support still wants to chew the fat over it, so if you don’t, feel free not to read or comment on content covering it.

We spoke about Warburton for weeks, months – and in truth, the same types were in there saying the same things. ‘He’s history ffs, move on’.

Pure censorship and a bizarre whitewash of a huge event which happened to our club.

The same with Pedro.

Just a big chunk of our fans who slam anyone who dares to refer to the past.

As if the past doesn’t matter.

Same fans, btw, who preach ‘from where we came from’ etc all the time to contextualise what we’ve achieved. Guess the past matters some of the time huh?

End of the day, live and let live. If folk want to discuss, praise, whine, complain about Gerrard, they can.
