Despite being overwhelming favourite to take over as Rangers manager, Giovanni Van Bronckhorst has received competition from a fellow Dutchman with Ronald Koeman coming more and more into the reckoning as an announcement looms.

Not only have the ex-Barca boss’s odds been slashed dramatically to become new manager, but information has reached us that a private flight from Amsterdam has been chartered for today, which does seem to indicate GVB is not quite cut and dried yet and Koeman is now more of a possibility than he was.

Media have been claiming there were three candidates on the shortlist, we understand that was true some days ago before Frank Lampard pulled out.

Now it appears to be just the two, but GVB remains strongly in pole position.

We had been told there could be an announcement this morning, but sadly that hasn’t come to pass, so we, like you, await the outcome of this with anticipation.

Would we want Koeman? Quite simply no. We want a Rangers man, one who will connect with the fans the way GVB does and will. Koeman would be a frankly rotten appointment and he’s well known for being very aloof and distant with players and supporters.

Don’t let us down with Koeman, Rangers.

No, we still await GVB, and we are aware the Blue Room is being readied for an unveiling.

Whether that’s to be today, we shall see.

Over to you Mr Rangers.
