Rangers fans have decided on the best course of action for the RB puzzle featuring James Tavernier and Nathan Patterson, and it makes for interesting reading.

Obviously the futures of both are down to the new manager, but we at Ibrox Noise were intrigued to know what you all thought should happen, and here’s what you said.

We provided you with five options, and in reverse order, here’s what you chose.

The least popular outcome was selling Patterson – just 8% wanted the lad to be sold, presumably even at a huge price.

The second least popular was choosing Tavernier as number one and leaving Patterson as deputy. So, leaving things as they are. That managed 9%.

Now we get into third most popular, and that was choosing Patterson as number one and leaving Tav on the bench. A solid 18% thought that was the way to go.

And second top was selling Tavernier. Not sure what we’d get for him in truth, but it was a popular option at 22%.

But the landslide winner at almost half with 43% is combining both. Keep both players in the XI, presumably Patterson as RB and Tavernier as RW.

So that seems to be the preference.

If the two cannot be combined, however, most fans want to see the back of Tavernier in the first team, either being sold or benched.

There’s no denying Patterson is the more popular option, but Tavernier has a tribalistic backing from a big chunk of the support too, so we’ll be interested in how the new boss deals with the pair – will he combine them as fans desire?
