Rangers are closing in on GVB as new manager after the Dutch legend arrived in the UK for official talks.

As Ibrox Noise exclusively told you two days ago, the former Rangers midfielder (yes, Sky, MIDFIELDER) is number one choice to take over from the ex-manager, with Frank Lampard and Rino Gattuso also in the mix.

GVB is the board’s preference, the fans’ preference, and himself is extremely keen on the job, and there’s no denying a swift negotiation and concluded agreement then announcement would be extremely welcome.

Our information was that this could be done inside Monday at the latest, and we are sure we speak for you all by hoping that’s how it transpires, if not even earlier.

We have deep reservations about Lampard, who is a bit of a rookie manager, and we can say on record we don’t want him at the hot seat.

Gattuso has more experience, and is of course a former player as well as a fairly experienced manager, and has won the national cup in Italy with Napoli, but GVB for us is the more attractive choice.

Let’s hope this can be done ASAP.
