With Steven Gerrard leaving for Villa, does this now reveal the truth behind why Connor Goldson wouldn’t sign?
The former Brighton man refused to extend his deal, spouting nonsense about having a kid again soon and everything having to be right.
It probably turns out he’s going to leave for Villa/sign pre-contract in January as a free agent, probably well aware our manager, his bestie, was thinking about moving on himself.
And we must admit few Rangers fans would be sad to see the back of Connor Goldson.
Easily the most unpopular player at Ibrox during Gerrard’s time here, the stopper’s invulnerability to ever being dropped sat badly with fans, and no matter how weak his defending was or how many errors he made, he never sat the risk of losing his place.
And now we probably know why he wouldn’t sign before now.
He definitely won’t any time soon.
Connor Goldson is free to chat to other clubs in January, and frankly he can go with more than our blessing.
