To expand on our earlier story about Morelos being offered a new deal, Steven Gerrard has accused he and his camp of lots of ‘noise’ over his future and has stated none of it has come from Rangers.
As we know Morelos was heavily linked to Porto in the summer, with close friend Daniel Candeias bigging him up for a move to Portugal, confirming the striker wanted the switch, but it didn’t happen and Morelos stayed.
Well, the Colombian has been gently scolded today by his manager who was pretty strong in his wording about the transfer hype he and his people have caused:
This is very strong wording – all the noise over Morelos comes from him and his camp – simple as that.
All that you’ve seen, on Ibrox Noise especially, pertaining to Morelos’ future, has been correct, but none of it has been sourced directly from the club but has been initiated by the Colombian and his entourage.
Gerrard also confirms Morelos in fact still wants to play in the PL, and the only way he’ll do that is with performances, which right now he’s not doing.
The new deal to the player is a bit of a ‘put up or shut up’ kind of offer, at least that’s how it looks, and Morelos himself seems to know interest in him has weaned along with his form and that may explain the intriguing quotes about remaining at Ibrox long term.
Gerrard hasn’t been mincing his words lately, and this is very telling.
Your move Alfie.
